USE THE LAW OF ATTRACTION IN YOUR LIFE

Some experts say we should focus our attention on what we want

I have noticed that when people assess each other a great deal consists of working out what the other man (or woman) wants. This seems to be the foundation of “getting someone’s number.”

In fact, in a world where there are shortages of nearly everything it follows that the resulting lacks cause corresponding wants.

The most recent shortfall seems to be oxygen in the atmosphere. Anyone with an elementary understanding of chemistry will apprehend that if there is an excess of carbon dioxide there must be a deficit of oxygen for us to breathe.

The third world, in particular, seems to be the home of wants too many to be itemised. People from the undeveloped countries give the impression of suffering from not enough material assets as well as psychological deprivations, some of which are not appropriate for identification in a family newspaper.

OK. So we all need things we do not have. “So what?” you may ask.

Well, in my researches I have noticed several things of interest, even to the man in the street.

Have you noticed that habitual winners of lotteries, raffles and gambling activities tend to have a disproportionate number of individuals with cash handling jobs? Have you noticed that these habitual winners in pastimes of “chance” have a high percentage of, for example, shopkeepers, shop assistants, junior cashiers, supermarket checkout workers and bank tellers?

For ages, I thought it was an inexplicable phenomenon and then found an hypothesis which purports to explain why this is so and, furthermore, claims to be able to show you how to use its underlying theory to get almost anything you want from money to love to a visa to a country that is determined to keep you out.

The reason why this hypothesis is not well known is that, up to this point in time, its stamping ground is in the realm of mind, body & spirit, New Age philosophies and mysticism. None of the above categories of knowledge command the authority of conventional avenues of human enquiry. They are not respectable.

It is a bit like this: If I purported to predict your future career by astrology you are likely to be sceptical. If, however, I based my prediction on a battery of aptitude tests conducted by graduate experimental psychologists backed up by psychometrics you would take it more seriously. Right?

That is the problem and right now it is the biggest trouble in getting the point over with regard to this article.

You see, the subject of my present discourse is the Law of Attraction which belongs to New Age bookshops (like Mysteries in Covent Garden, London), hippies, psychic counselling, mystics, clairvoyants and psycho-astrology.

None of the above pursuits enjoys the confidence of people who have been brought up and educated in Establishment modes of thought and behaviour.

Nevertheless, I will present the Law of Attraction to you and it is up to you, gentle reader, to decide whether or not to enquire further and whether or not to incorporate it into your life.

In my case, I stumbled upon it when I was given a book on basic mental science (not psychology) in which the role of attention in attracting what one wants was discussed in an elementary fashion.

The essence of it is that when one gives one’s attention to anything it becomes incorporated into one’s mind and that, in turn, attracts more of the same. It is like the law of gravitation where the mere presence of a mass attracts more material which in turn attracts more. That is how some scientists think the Earth formed long ago. A ball of cosmic dust attracted more cosmic dust, and the process continued.

One American psychic who declines to be named told me:
“What you focus on becomes your reality. You can focus on general feelings. I focus on peace, joy and so on.

“It is both an intellectual and an emotional process which is also spiritual. I would attract money if it was for my highest good but if it was not for my good it would not work.

“However, it is possible to attract money by looking at it even if it is not good for you.”

That is, I submit, one way of putting it in a nutshell.

Our senses are our windows to the world and all that we know came to us through these portals. Therefore attention is, as the psychologist William James put it: “the keel of the mental ship,” it follows that we owe it to ourselves to be careful what we give our attention to.

The other thing, before I delve further, is that, as the proverb states: “Birds of a feather flock together.” If you go into almost any cafĂ©, restaurant, cinema or public park you will see for yourself that where there are groups of people they are composed, for the most part, of socially and intellectually similar people.

For example, highly intelligent people mix with others of the same stamp. Stupid people have stupid friends. Stamp collectors have stamp collector friends.

Furthermore, analyses of expulsions from schools and sackings from companies by sociologists have indicated that social compatibilities accounted for about 90% of the raison d’etres of the ejections.

The Law of Attraction teaches, as far as I am aware, that if one mixes with a certain type of person one attracts more of the same and rejects those who do not match adequately.

Michael Losier writes:
“Before I explain why a minute of Deliberate Attraction is better than none, I'd like to begin by giving a definition of The Law of Attraction. Definition of the Law of Attraction: I attract to myself, whatever I give my focus, attention, or energy to; whether wanted or unwanted.
“It is important to understand that The Law of Attraction operates in every moment. Right now, in this very moment, each of us is offering a vibration and The Law of Attraction is matching that vibration and giving us more of it; whether or not we are offering that vibration deliberately or non-deliberately. As the definition says, whether wanted or unwanted, we attract more of whatever vibration we offer in every moment. When it comes to our vibration, whether or not they are deliberately offered, or non-deliberately offered, and whether or not our vibration attracts to us something we want or don't want, The Law of Attraction is still paying attention and operating in exactly the same way - in EVERY moment.
“Ideally, we will want to become more deliberate offerers about the vibrations we offer. When we become deliberate about what we give our focus, attention, and energy to, we are practicing Deliberate Attraction! Here is an easy 4-stage cycle to help you understand why Deliberate Attraction is an important skill to practice.
“Stage #1: You observe what you are attracting in any moment of your life.
“Stage #2: While observing what you are attracting, you are offering a corresponding vibration.
“Stage #3: Whether offered deliberately or non-deliberately, in every moment, The Law of Attraction is checking in with your vibration.
“Stage #4: The Law of Attraction then gives you more of whatever you are offering vibrationally.
“This 4-stage cycle keeps repeating itself over, and over and over again. This is how you manifest more of whatever you give your focus, attention, or energy to.
“Notice the word 'attention' in our definition of The Law of Attraction. The more Deliberate Attention you give to something you desire, the more quickly it will manifest in your life.
"Imagine spending one minute deliberately placing your focus, attention, and energy on the way you want something to be in your life. You are filling that minute with deliberately offered vibrations. Your vibrations are summoning the energy of The Law of Attraction to start unfolding whatever you just gave your attention to.
“Now that you understand, more clearly, the significance of being a deliberate offerer of your vibration, isn't one minute of deliberate attraction better than none? Remember, when you give attention to what you Do want, you are including it in your current vibration. And, when you give attention to what you DON'T want, you are including it in your current vibration. The Law of Attraction doesn't make any distinctions between the two.”
“In closing, in every moment, including this moment RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW, you are including both what you want and don't want in your vibration. Practice becoming more deliberate in your vibration and you will manifest your desires more quickly. That's what Deliberate Attraction is all about.”
Karla Wessel, the author of Angel Star Cult (http://www.angelstarjourneys.com/) says: “Mainly, I think the Law of Attraction works when you visualise and when you co-create with spirits.

“By that I mean the Law of Attraction in the world. The more you have faith that good things will come the more they will come.”

This is why Western tourists to the third world are sometimes counselled not to take holiday snaps of the poverty. After they return home and then review the holiday by looking at the photographs they are recreating the poverty in their own minds and attracting destitution into their own lives.

Therefore, the experts say: focus upon what you want to get to get what you want – whatever that might be.
